Manifesto of the Environmental Party of Iran

The Environmental Party of Iran, inspired by the principles of Green Social Liberalism and committed to human, national, and environmental values, was established with the aim of promoting democratic governance, sustainable development, social welfare, and the protection of Iran’s national interests. The party considers itself a responsible civic nationalist party that emphasizes the preservation of national identity, territorial integrity, political independence, and the country’s long-term security, while remaining committed to building a free, law-based, just, and sustainable society.

The Environmental Party of Iran believes that genuine national progress can only be achieved through respect for human dignity, the rule of law, public participation, governmental accountability, and environmental protection. The party regards economic development, social justice, national security, and environmental health as the four fundamental pillars of the country’s progress and believes that none of these elements should be sacrificed for another.

The Environmental Party of Iran considers the Islamic Republic to be a non-democratic system lacking popular legitimacy and fundamentally incompatible with the principles of freedom, justice, national interests, and sustainable development. Therefore, the party views a democratic, gradual, and peaceful transition from the current system toward a democratic, secular government based on human rights principles as essential for Iran’s future. The party emphasizes a non-violent transition, the preservation of public stability, and the participation of all national and social forces, believing that the success of this process depends on public trust, national consensus, and responsible governance.

The Environmental Party of Iran is committed to the separation of religion from the state, governmental neutrality in religious matters, free, fair, and regular elections, judicial independence, financial transparency of public institutions, and the accountability of officials before the people and the law. The party recognizes popular sovereignty and the right of the Iranian people to determine their own destiny as the fundamental principle of the future political system. The party considers a secular democratic republic to be the preferred model for governing the country, while affirming that the final form of government must ultimately be decided through the free and informed will of the people in a transparent and democratic process.

The Environmental Party of Iran considers sustainable economic development to be one of the main foundations of national progress and believes that Iran’s economy should be based on a healthy and competitive free market, economic transparency, respect for private property, support for private sector investment, and the strengthening of entrepreneurship and innovation. The party considers private sector development and productive investment to be the main drivers of employment, increased productivity, and poverty reduction. At the same time, it believes that ensuring social welfare, reducing inequality, and guaranteeing fair access for all citizens to education, healthcare, and sustainable social security are among the fundamental responsibilities of the state.

The Environmental Party of Iran supports administrative decentralization and the strengthening of local and regional governance, and considers the development of municipal and regional administration within the framework of national unity and the country’s future constitution to be essential. The party emphasizes the full equality of rights for all citizens and opposes any form of discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, language, gender, or place of residence. It supports freedom of thought, expression, the press, and civil activity as fundamental pillars of a democratic society. The party also supports the right to learn and use Iran’s various languages alongside Persian as the common national language, within the framework of national unity and the law.

Environmental protection and the sustainable management of natural resources are among the core missions of the Environmental Party of Iran. The party considers sustainable development to be essential for national security, public health, and social welfare, and emphasizes the responsible management of water resources, soil, and forests, the preservation of biodiversity, pollution reduction, and the development of a green economy.

The Environmental Party of Iran emphasizes the necessity of a gradual and well-planned transition toward a low-carbon economy and considers the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the expansion of renewable energy, increased energy efficiency, and support for clean technologies to be among the country’s strategic priorities. The party regards sustainable water management, responsible consumption reform, sustainable agriculture, and the protection of natural resources as essential governmental responsibilities in ensuring the country’s food and environmental security.

The Environmental Party of Iran supports the development of a sustainable and low-emission transportation system and considers the expansion of public transportation, the use of fuel-efficient and electric vehicles, the development of sustainable urban infrastructure, and the reduction of air pollution to be among the country’s major environmental policy priorities.

The Environmental Party of Iran considers the preservation of Iran’s political independence, territorial integrity, national security, and national interests to be among the fundamental duties of the state and believes that the future Iran should be a peaceful, responsible, and trustworthy member of the international community. The party supports a balanced foreign policy based on respect for international law, constructive engagement with the world, and the defense of Iran’s national interests.

The party also considers the establishment of a professional, modern, and accountable national defense system to be essential, based on defensive deterrence, national preparedness, and the protection of citizens’ security. The armed forces must serve solely to safeguard the country, preserve Iran’s stability and security, and defend national interests, while avoiding military adventurism or involvement in foreign conflicts.

With confidence in collective wisdom, social responsibility, and national participation, the Environmental Party of Iran strives to build a free, secure, just, developed, and sustainable Iran — a country in which the rule of law, secular democracy, social justice, a dynamic economy, national security, and a healthy environment form the foundations of a brighter future for all citizens.
