Omid was born in January 1962 in Tehran and studied Mathematics and Physics. At the age of 16, he became familiar with the ideas of the Tudeh Party and based his political struggle on Marxism-Leninism, joining the revolution alongside a vast number of people.
After the revolution, while receiving his high school diploma, the Cultural Revolution began in the spring of 1980, universities were closed, and he was prevented from pursuing higher education.
Following the revolution, Omid joined the Communist Unity Organization and became politically active within it.
In January 1982, he was arrested and transferred to Ward 209. Three years later, during the prison reforms initiated under Ayatollah Montazeri, and after the prison administration was taken away from the faction associated with Lajevardi and Haj Davood Rahmani, he was released from prison.
In January 1988, he fled Iran and sought asylum in Sweden.
Years later, due to severe repression inside the country, his organization suspended all activities indefinitely. Afterward, Omid spent many years reassessing his past political activities and beliefs. As a result, after nearly two decades, he critically reevaluated and ultimately abandoned Marxism and leftist ideology in general.
Recently, Omid joined the Iran Environmental Party of Iran and began his political activities within the party.
